Thousands of people ran through town today--breathing the mountain air, dressing as bananas, painting themselves green, taking turns sliding on slip and slides through peoples yards, being serenaded by Elvis, and running a 10K with huge smiles on their faces.
The big daddy and my two older children joined this crowd today. Last year we all walked together with baby in the ergo backpack. This year my pregnant self cheered from a shady spot on the sidelines, giving me a new view. I marveled at the sight---families gathered, friends dressed in costumes, a blind man led by his younger son, a woman attempting to set the world record for hula hooping. And then, the top three professional men runners clasped hands and went across the finish line together. Together...
To have an event that promotes fun, health, and camaraderie?
